It is here that in 2002 Cardinal Martini held his LENTEN MEDITATIONS on Chapter 18 of the Gospel according to St Matthew. The meditations on this extract from the Gospel are subdivided into four parts corresponding to the four evenings of Lent in which they took place. Accordingly the text is divided into four key verses.

Every comment on the passage of the Gospel is based on a reading (lectio), which analyses the structure, the metre and the rhythm of the passage; a meditatio or meditation which seeks greater actual clarity for the Christian community; and occasionally a brief reflection (reflexio).
